Ella is the daughter of Tracy and Bryan Pitkin, and is sister to Sierra and Daven. Ella is a grade 12 student at École Cariboo Hill Secondary, where she is a part of the dance team, mentorship club, and is an active volunteer. Outside of school, she has played basketball, been on a swim team, modeled and enjoys skateboarding. After graduating high school, Ella plans to attend Vancouver Island University's Esthetics and Spa Therapy program to pursue her hobby of nail art.

Ella is inspired by her dance teacher Ms. E because of her positivity. Ms. E always encourages other students to do their best and try new things, and makes students feel at home. Ella hopes that one day she can have that same effect on people.

Ella is proud of her Royal City for hosting Hyack Festival Week, as well as Recovery Day BC, which has become one of the world’s largest events celebrating recovery and raising awareness that recovery from addiction and mental health issues is possible.

Ella's proudest moment in her life so far was paying for her own trip to Las Vegas to see a concert, her first big purchase that her parents didn’t help me pay for.

Ella's most treasured keepsake is a toy that her best friend broke when they were younger and now reminds Ella of her. The toy is something that she will keep close by if she is missing her.

If Ella could take part in a historic event, she would like to have been a part of the Stonewall movement, because of the changes it helped make for the LGBTQ community.

To brighten someone's day, Ella would give food and other essentials to the homeless.

Ella believes the most important qualities of a Hyack Ambassador are responsibility and politeness. She looks forward to representing New Westminster with kindness and a smile.

WORDS TO LIVE BY

“There's always tomorrow.”

I live by this quote because no matter how stressed or how bad your day is going there will always be tomorrow that can be a better day.
