Festival - text to speech - help

I just got the festival text to speech package working with Raspbian (updated to latest packages 15-08-2012) - It sounds pretty good and says any text or text file I give it. I want to use it for a user interface, giving feedback to buttons pressed and status reports etc. on a Pi without display. If anyone has more experience with Festival text to speech could you give some tips to these problems I have:1) After saying a word or sentence, Festival needs a pause of approximately 5 seconds before accepting more text, otherwise I get an 'audio device not available' error. Is there a way to shorten this delay or to terminate the Festival/audio process?2) Is it possible to use a different voice e.g. female3) Can the speed of speech be changed - slower or faster?

Please help

Hello, So, you're coming to Bloodstock for the first time? Maybe you've been before but not camped. Perhaps you're experienced with camping but not at a festival. Are you completely new to both?I hope this thread can prove invaluable in your preparations. The aim here is for experienced Bloodstock campers to help newbies with advice and lists, what you're realistically going to want to take and what isn't worth the hassle, anything you think might be useful. Hello, I have noticed that when cell phones call my ooma line, call id shows up as "Cell Phone xx" where xx is the state (e.g., GA, TX, NY, etc.). With my old service, I would get the name that is normally published for that cell phone. Anyone else had this issue or know if Ooma plans to address this? I'm new to the forums and so far haven't seen anything about this issue. Please help I didn't find the right solution from the internet. References: Product Animation Agency Thank you

Hello, I have a weird problem. I just set up cell phone service with Sprint and I ported my mobile phone number (not from Ooma) from Verizon to Sprint. I originally had Sprint many years ago but received a good discount for service with Verizon thru a discount program thru work, but switched back to Sprint due to the ever increasing cost of service with Verizon. I am able to make and receive calls on my Sprint phone using my ported phone number. Other people are also able to make calls to me with out any problems to my ported phone number. Odd thing is that if I try to call my cell phone from my home phone which I set up thru Ooma VoIP service, I get a recorded message from Verizon saying "Welcome to Verizon wireless, the number you are calling has been, changed, disconnected or is no longer in service". Does anyone know what is causing this? Please help I didn't find the right solution from the internet. References: Product Animation Service Thank you
