Our Story
Formed in 1971 by Mayor Muni Evers, the Hyack Festival Association works to achieve the common goal that he bestowed upon us to produce uplifting events to enhance and enliven the quality of life for both the residents of New Westminster and its visitors.

We aim to inspire, unite, and excite our community by celebrating our history and future through community partnerships, youth involvement, and world-class community events.

Our mission is to bring New Westminster together through world-class parades, festivals, and events that celebrate our history, embrace our future, and reflect the diversity and multicultural spirit of our community. Through meaningful partnerships, we honour long-standing traditions while creating new traditions and opportunities for residents and visitors to connect, celebrate, and share in the pride of our city.
