Dream a Little Dream
Each year, the newly elected President of the Hyack Festival Association decides on the theme of our annual Hyack float. The theme is incorporated into all our events and each year we create a collectable pin that can be purchased from our office and at our events.

The Hyack Festival Association is thrilled to celebrate its 55th Anniversary, marking over five decades of bringing our community together. We will be continuing our focus to always provide free events for the whole family, whether they live, work, study, or are visiting our wonderful city of New Westminster.
Each year, our signature events kick off in May starting with the Hyack Multicultural Parade and Festival in the Park. In August, we light up the summer and celebrate with the End of Summer Fireworks and Festival. In December, we also have our Photos with Santa in time for the holidays.
Throughout the summer months, we will remain active with our Hyack Information Booth at the Farmers market, as well as the Pride Festival in August. Our award-winning float will also be participating and representing New Westminster in many local parades throughout the lower mainland.
In 1971, Mayor Muni Evers started The Hyack Festival Association to raise community spirit with family-friendly, inclusive events. He couldn’t do it alone, so others with the same dream came together, collaborated, and, through learning and evolving over the years, Hyack became an even bigger dream. To dream of the future, we must remember the past. Use the traditions that works and create new ones for the future.
Together, let’s continue to build a vibrant, inclusive, and joyful community—one event, one parade, and one act of kindness at a time. Let’s all Dream a Little Dream!
