Sasha Novosiltseff

Aleksandra (Sasha) is the daughter of Ludy Novosiltseff and a student at New West Senior Secondary where she participates in the school choir.  She has been studying ballet and Ukrainian dance since she was 3 years old.   Aleksandra volunteers in various city organizations and enjoys looking after her friend’s pets when her friends are away.

 

She is inspired by “my Mom because she always tells me to always believe in myself, to never give up and the only one who can achieve what I want in life – is me.”

 

Aleksandra’s most treasured keepsake is a gold crucifix, as she was baptized in it, and it is a family heirloom passed onto her from her Great Aunt Mila in Australia.

Aleksandra’s favorite thing to do in the Royal City, besides the Hyack Festival, is watching the Royal City Youth Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, and also performing with them. She also enjoys walking at the Quay.

 

Her proudest moment in her life, so far, was being chosen as one of 30 local dancers to perform with the Moscow Ballet Company at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.  

 

If Aleksandra could trade place with anyone it would be her Mom because “she grew up in the ‘70’s with all the funky old songs, crimped hair and blue mascara!”

Aleksandra believes she would make a good Hyack Ambassador because “I am very proud to represent my city and educate others about my city history and be more involved with the community.”
