The salmon image, prominent symbol of this year's theme, was designed by First Nations Artist Patrick Natrall II of the Musqueam First Nation. The salmon, here pictured in its original drawing, has been translated into many different mediums. Visible on the canoe, on the pin and on the signage for the float, the salmon will also be prominent on the dresses worn by the Ambassadors on the float.

We recognize and respect that New Westminster is on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem speaking peoples. We acknowledge that colonialism has made invisible their histories and connections to the land. As a City, we are learning and building relationships with the people whose lands we are on.
